Research on acupuncture as a medical treatment has grown considerably in the past 20 years, increasing the rate of research in conventional biomedicine by twice as much.

There were more than 13,000 studies conducted in 60 countries during that time, including hundreds of meta-analyses summarizing the results of thousands of studies in humans and animals. 

A wide variety of clinical areas were covered in this study, including pain, cancer, pregnancy, stroke, mood disorders, sleep disorders, and inflammation, to name a few.
