Location (classical)
On the head, on the midline, 1 cun posterior to the anterior hairline.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the neck in extension and the head supported, locate the point 1 cun immediately above the anterior hairline.
Anatomy
Frontalis muscle and epicranial aponeurosis. Innervated by the frontal nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Shang (上), upper; Xing (星), star. The head is considered the sky. The point is located on the head like a star in the sky.
