Editorial Policy

How we produce, review, and maintain the content of this portal.

Sources and Scientific Criteria

  • All content is grounded in studies published in indexed scientific journals (PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science).
  • Preference is given to randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.
  • DOI links are provided for every reference — we never host third-party article PDFs.
  • Evidence scores (0–100) reflect methodological quality: study design, sample size, double-blinding, follow-up.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Some of the content on this portal is produced with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for draft generation and synthesis of the scientific literature. All AI-generated content undergoes human review before publication.

AI Notice

AI-assisted content may contain inaccuracies. Do not substitute information from this site for guidance from a physician.

Medical Review Process

All published content is reviewed by the medical team at CEIMEC under the responsibility of Dr. Marcus Yu Bin Pai (CRM-SP: 158074 | RQE: 65523 · 65524 · 655241), Doctor of Sciences from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and Specialist in Pain Medicine, Physiatry, and Acupuncture.

The review covers: verification of clinical accuracy, appropriateness of references, correct medical terminology, and alignment with current guidelines.

Updates and Corrections

Content is updated when new relevant evidence is published or when errors are identified. Corrections are made without prior notice for minor errors; substantive revisions are flagged with an update note and the date is refreshed at the top of the article.

Atlas Methodology

The data in the Clinical Atlas of Acupuncture is compiled from:

  • International anatomical references and World Health Organization (WHO) standards
  • Peer-reviewed literature in Physiatry and Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Established clinical consensus — points are verified against standardized protocols
  • Standardized nomenclature for myofascial trigger points

Protocols are not based on alternative or unverified sources. All atlas information follows the rigor of evidence-based medicine.
