4 cun distal to LI-11 (equivalent to two-thirds proximal to LI-5 and one-third distal to LI-11, on the line connecting LI-5 and LI-11).
How to find it (practical)
With the hand closed, locate the point 4 cun below Qu Chi (LI-11), on the lateral border of the radius.
Anatomy
Extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle, supinator muscle. Innervated by the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the radial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Xia (下), lower; Lian (廉), edge, ridge. The point is located 1 cun below Shang Lian (LI-9), on the dorsal aspect of the forearm, near the radial border, on a prominence formed by the extensor carpi radialis longus when the hand is firmly clenched.
[Location] On the radial border of the dorsal surface of the forearm and on the line connecting Yang Xi (LI-5) and Qu Chi (LI-11), 4 cun below the cubital crease.
