Precautions
No special precautions; avoid the cephalic vein.
Location (classical)
On the inner (anterolateral) aspect of the upper arm, along the radial border of the biceps brachii, 4 cun distal to the anterior axillary fold (or 5 cun above the cubital crease).
How to find it (practical)
Seated, locate the point 5 cun above the cubital crease, lateral to the tendon of the biceps brachii.
Anatomy
Skin, subcutaneous tissue, lower lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, cephalic vein, biceps brachii and brachialis muscles, radial collateral artery.
Needling
Perpendicular (vertical) insertion 0.5–1 cun.
Etymology
Xia (俠), to clasp on both sides; Bai (白), white. The color white relates to the Lung. With the arms relaxed, the Lung is encircled by the two Xia Bai (LU-4) points.
