Precautions
Extremely painful point. Caution: puncture of this point is very painful.
Location (classical)
At the tip of the middle finger, in the center, approximately 0.1 cun from the free margin of the nail. Some texts locate the point at the radial border of the nail root.
How to find it (practical)
With the palmar surface facing up, locate the point at the tip of the middle finger, 0.1 cun above the upper border of the nail.
Anatomy
Skin, subcutaneous tissue, proper palmar digital branch of the median nerve, and proper palmar digital arteries.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.1–0.2 cun, or pricking to bleed.
Etymology
Zhong (中), middle; Chong (衝), gushing. The point lies at the tip of the middle finger, where the Qi of the meridian originates and gushes upward along the meridian.
