Location (classical)
On the anterior aspect of the thigh, 2 cun above the superolateral border of the patella.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the knee flexed, locate the point 2 cun above the superolateral border of the patella.
Anatomy
Tendon of the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis. Innervated by the femoral nerve. Descending branch of the lateral femoral circumflex artery.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Liang (梁), ridge; Qiu (丘), mound. The prominent muscle above the knee where the point lies resembles the ridge of a mound.
