Location (classical)
On the lateral aspect of the arm, 3 cun distal to the lateral end of the acromion (TE-14), on the line connecting TE-14 and the olecranon, at the junction of this line with the margin of the deltoid muscle.
How to find it (practical)
With the elbow relaxed, locate the point 3 cun below Jian Liao (TE-14), which lies on the posterior aspect of the shoulder, on the same line as Tian Jing (TE-10).
Anatomy
Posterior border of the deltoid, lateral head of the triceps. Innervated by the posterior brachial cutaneous nerve and the radial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular or oblique insertion of 1 to 2 cun.
Etymology
Nao (臑), arm; Hui (会), meeting point. The point lies on the muscular prominence of the arm. Meeting point of the Hand Shao Yang Meridian with the Yang Wei Mai, hence called the meeting of the arm.
