Location (classical)
On the upper back, 3 cun lateral to the inferior border of the spinous process of the second thoracic vertebra (T2), at the level of BL-12.
How to find it (practical)
In ventral decubitus, locate the point below the spinous process of the second thoracic vertebra, 3 cun lateral to the posterior midline.
Anatomy
Trapezius, levator scapulae, and rhomboid muscles.
Needling
Oblique insertion toward the spine, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Fu (附), lateral; Fen (分), separation. The Bladder Meridian, Foot Tai Yang, descends bilaterally from the neck. This point, joined to the first line, is the starting point of the second line of the meridian.
