Location (classical)
On the back, 3 cun lateral to the inferior border of the spinous process of the tenth thoracic vertebra (T10), at the level of BL-19 (Gallbladder Shu point).
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the head flexed, locate the point below the spinous process of the tenth thoracic vertebra, 3 cun lateral to Zhong Shu (GV-7).
Anatomy
Latissimus dorsi and iliocostalis thoracis muscles.
Needling
Oblique insertion toward the spine, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Yang (阳), six Fu; Gang (纲), commander. The Dan (Gallbladder) belongs to Yang. The point lies at the level of Dan Shu (BL-19), as commander of the Dorsal Shu points of the six Fu.
