Location (classical)
On the lateral aspect of the foot, posterior and inferior to the lateral malleolus, directly below BL-60, lateral to the calcaneus.
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the foot supported or in dorsal decubitus, locate the point 2 cun immediately below Kun Lun (BL-60), in the depression at the transition between light and dark skin.
Anatomy
Calcaneofibular ligament. Innervated by the sural nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Pu (仆), servant, attendant; Shen (参), to assist, to attend. The point signifies a servant attending his master. Pu Shen is also written as Pu Can.
