On the lateral aspect of the ankle, in the depression midway between the prominence of the lateral malleolus and the Achilles tendon.
🧭 How to find it (practical)
Seated with the foot at rest or in dorsal decubitus, locate Kun Lun (BL-60) at the midpoint of the distance between the apex of the lateral malleolus and the Achilles tendon.
🔬 Anatomy
Anterior to the Achilles tendon. Innervated by the sural nerve. Small saphenous vein nearby.
💉 Needling
Perpendicular insertion toward KI-3, 0.5–1.0 cun.
📜 Etymology
Kun Lun (昆仑), the name of a mountain located in western China. The point lies near the lateral malleolus, the shape of which resembles that of a mountain.
