Location (classical)
On the anterior midline, in the center of the manubrium of the sternum, 1 cun inferior to CV-22.
How to find it (practical)
In supine decubitus or seated, with the neck in extension, locate the point between the first sternocostal articulation and the midline of the sternum.
Anatomy
Manubrium of the sternum. Innervated by the supraclavicular nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Xuan (璇), rotation; Ji (璣), axis. Xuan Ji is surrounded by stars. The lung is located in the upper part of the five Zang, and the point lies in the center of the upper part, with the property of regulating the Qi of the Fei (Lung).
