Precautions
HIGH RISK. Avoid the femoral artery and vein. Avoid the spermatic cord. The femoral vein lies medial to the artery. To avoid injury, do not needle medial to the artery.
Location (classical)
In the inguinal crease, 2.5 cun lateral to the midline and 1 cun inferior to the upper border of the symphysis (Qugu CV-2), medial to the femoral vein/artery.
How to find it (practical)
In dorsal decubitus, locate the point in the inguinal groove, 2.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline, at the level of the inferior margin of the pubic symphysis, lateral and inferior to Qi Chong (ST-30).
Anatomy
Pectineus muscle, obturator externus muscle. The femoral vein and artery lie laterally. Innervated by the ilioinguinal nerve.
Needling
Slightly oblique, 0.5–0.8 cun.
Etymology
Ji (急), urgent, movement; Mai (脉), artery. This point is located on the medial aspect of the thigh, alongside the femoral artery.
