Location (classical)
On the medial aspect of the knee, in the depression superior to the medial end of the transverse popliteal crease, posterior to the medial epicondyle of the tibia. Locate with the knee flexed.
How to find it (practical)
With the knee flexed, locate the point at the medial end of the popliteal fossa, in the depression between the medial condyle of the femur and the tendon of the semimembranosus muscle.
Anatomy
Anterior to the tendons of the semimembranosus and semitendinosus. Innervated by the saphenous nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Qu (曲), curved; Quan (泉), source, spring. The point is located at the medial end of the popliteal fossa, in a depression that appears when the knee is flexed, resembling a spring.
