Deep insertion may perforate the peritoneal cavity.
Location (classical)
On the lateral aspect of the abdomen, anterior to the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS), 3 cun below the level of the umbilicus.
How to find it (practical)
In lateral decubitus, locate the point 0.5 cun anterior to the anterior superior iliac spine, 3 cun below the umbilical scar and 3 cun anteroinferior to the Dai Mai point (GB-26).
Anatomy
External and internal oblique muscles. Innervated by the iliohypogastric nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Wu (五), five; Shu (枢), pivot. Wu also means the place of intersection of several lines. The point is located where several meridians pass.
