Location (classical)
On the dorsum of the foot, between the 4th and 5th metatarsal bones, in the depression proximal to the metatarsophalangeal joints.
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the feet supported, locate the point between the fourth and fifth metatarsal bones, medial to the tendon of the extensor digitorum longus, 1.5 cun proximal to the interdigital fold.
Anatomy
Fourth dorsal interosseous muscle. Innervated by the intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–0.8 cun.
Etymology
Di (地), ground; Wu (五), five; Hui (会), confluence. Di Wu Hui (GB-42) is the point that treats arthralgia of the five toes.
