Location (classical)
On the dorsum of the foot, between the 4th and 5th toes, 0.5 cun proximal to the margin of the interdigital fold.
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the feet supported, locate the point between the fourth and fifth toes, at the transition between the lighter and darker skin.
Anatomy
Dorsal interosseous muscle. Innervated by the dorsal digital nerve from the superficial fibular nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular or oblique insertion directed proximally, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Xia (侠), to squeeze on both sides; Xi (溪), stream, depression. The point lies in the space between the fourth and fifth toes.
