Location (classical)
On the back, on the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the sixth thoracic vertebra (T6). At the same level as BL-16.
How to find it (practical)
In prone decubitus or seated upright, locate the point in the depression between the spinous processes of the sixth and seventh thoracic vertebrae.
Anatomy
Supraspinous and interspinous ligaments.
Needling
Oblique insertion directed superiorly, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Ling (靈), spirit; Tai (台), tower or platform.
The point is located between Shen Dao (GV-11) and Xin Shu (BL-15) and lies near the heart, like a platform for the spirit of the Xin (Heart).
