Precautions
Deep insertion may reach the spinal canal.
Location (classical)
On the back, on the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the seventh thoracic vertebra (T7). At the same level as the inferior angle of the scapula and BL-17.
How to find it (practical)
In prone or lateral decubitus, locate the point between the spinous processes of the seventh and eighth thoracic vertebrae.

Supraspinous and interspinous ligaments.
Needling
Oblique insertion directed superiorly, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Zhi (至), reaching; Yang (陽), Yang of Yin-Yang. The point is located at the seventh thoracic vertebra. The upper part of the thoracic spine is "Yang within Yang." The point belongs to the Du Mai and lies below the seventh thoracic vertebra, and seven is a Yang number; for this reason, this point receives the name "Reaching Yang."
