Precautions
In infants, do not insert the needle if the fontanelle has not closed.
Location (classical)
On the top of the head, on the midline, 1.5 cun anterior to GV-20 (3.5 cun posterior to the anterior hairline).
How to find it (practical)
Seated upright or with the neck in extension, locate the point 1.5 cun anterior to Bai Hui (GV-20).
Anatomy
Epicranial aponeurosis. Innervated by the frontal nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Qian (前), anterior; Ding (頂), vertex. The point is located in front of the vertex.
