Location (classical)
With the thumb in abduction, in the depression between the tendons of the extensor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis (anatomical snuffbox), on the radial aspect of the wrist.
How to find it (practical)
With the thumb abducted, locate the point on the radial border of the wrist joint, between the tendons of the extensor pollicis longus and brevis.
Anatomy
Between the tendons of the extensor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis. Cephalic vein, radial artery. Innervated by the superficial branch of the radial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Yang (阳), Yang (dorsum of the wrist); Xi (溪), stream, depression between two tendons. The local depression resembles a stream between mountains.
