Location (classical)
On the medial aspect of the femur, 4 cun proximal to the medial condyle of the femur (or 4 cun above LR-8), between the sartorius and vastus medialis muscles.
How to find it (practical)
With the knee flexed, locate the point 4 cun immediately above Qu Quan (LR-8), or 5 cun above the popliteal fossa, between the vastus medialis and sartorius muscles.
Anatomy
Sartorius, vastus medialis, and adductor longus muscles. Innervated by the anterior cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve and by the obturator nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Yin (阴), medial aspect; Bao (包), interior, wrapping. The point is located on the medial aspect of the thigh, between the Spleen Meridian (Foot Tai Yin) and the Kidney Meridian (Foot Shao Yin).
