Location (classical)
On the upper abdomen, 3 cun above the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline (at the level of CV-11).
How to find it (practical)
In dorsal decubitus, locate the point 3 cun above the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline, at the level of Jian Li (CV-11).
Anatomy
Rectus abdominis muscle. 8th intercostal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Shi (石), stone; Guan (关), obstruction. Shi means hard in consistency. This is an important point for the treatment of abdominal diseases of hardened consistency: constipation, stagnation of Xue (Blood), and infertility.
