Location (classical)
On the medial side of the leg, 2 cun directly superior to KI-3, on the anterior border of the Achilles tendon.
How to find it (practical)
Seated or in dorsal decubitus, locate the point 2 cun immediately above Tai Xi (KI-3), at the anterior border of the calcaneal tendon.
Anatomy
Soleus muscle, medial border of the Achilles tendon. Innervated by the medial sural cutaneous nerve and the tibial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Fu (复), return; Liu (溜), current, swift. The point lies above Tai Xi (KI-3). The Qi of the Kidney Meridian, Foot Shao Yin, makes a turn around the medial malleolus before continuing on to Fu Liu (KI-7).
