Location (classical)
On the medial side of the ankle, in the depression 1 cun directly inferior to the prominence of the medial malleolus.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, locate the point in the depression inferior to the medial malleolus, 0.4 cun below the intersection of the vertical line passing through the apex of the medial malleolus with the transverse line passing through the base of the medial malleolus, at the transition between light and dark skin.
Anatomy
Tibialis posterior tendon, flexor digitorum longus muscle. Innervated by the saphenous nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Zhao (照), to shine; Hai (海), sea. Indicated for the treatment of eye disorders.
