Location (classical)
On the posterior aspect of the shoulder, in the depression inferior to the spine of the scapula, directly superior to the posterior axillary crease when the arm hangs in the adducted position.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the shoulder relaxed and the upper limb abducted, locate the point immediately superior to Jian Zhen (SI-9), at the end of the posterior axillary crease, on the inferior border of the spine of the scapula.
Anatomy
Posterior deltoid, infraspinatus muscle. Innervated by the suprascapular nerve and axillary nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 1 to 1.5 cun.
Etymology
Nao (臑), arm; Shu (俞), point. Means that the point lies on the arm.
