Location (classical)
With the arm adducted, 1 cun superior to the posterior axillary crease, on the inferior border of the deltoid muscle.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the arm relaxed and the upper limb abducted, locate the point 1 cun immediately superior to the end of the posterior axillary crease.
Anatomy
Deltoid muscle, teres major and teres minor muscles. Innervated by the axillary nerve and radial nerve. Circumflex scapular artery.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Jian (肩), shoulder; Zhen (貞), true. This is the first point where the Hand Tai Yang Small Intestine Meridian meets the shoulder.
