Location (classical)
On the ulnar border of the wrist, in the depression between the head of the ulna and the triquetral bone (or between the styloid process of the ulna and the triquetral bone).
How to find it (practical)
With the palm of the hand facing down, locate the point on the ulnar border of the hand, above Wan Gu (SI-4), in the depression of the triquetral bone.
Anatomy
Tendon of the extensor carpi ulnaris muscle. Innervated by the dorsal branch of the ulnar nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Yang (阳), the dorsum of the wrist is Yang; Gu (谷), valley. The location of the point is like a valley.
