Location (classical)
On the dorsal aspect of the wrist. When the palm is facing the chest, the point lies in the bony cleft on the radial side of the styloid process of the ulna.
How to find it (practical)
With the elbow flexed and the palmar surface facing the chest, locate the point on the radial border of the styloid process of the ulna. (Fig. 9.21)
Anatomy
Tendon of the extensor carpi ulnaris muscle. Innervated by the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the dorsal branch of the ulnar nerve.
Needling
Oblique insertion directed proximally toward the elbow, 0.5–0.8 cun.
Etymology
Yang (养), to sustain; Lao (老), the aged. This point is used to treat geriatric disorders such as blurred vision, hearing deficit, low back pain, and shoulder pain.
