Location (classical)
On the medial aspect of the great toe, along the border between the reddish and white skin, in the depression distal and inferior to the first metatarsophalangeal joint (in front of the joint at the base).
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the feet supported or supine, locate the point on the medial aspect of the great toe, in the depression distal and anteroinferior to the first metatarsophalangeal joint, at the transition between light and dark skin.
Anatomy
Skin, subcutaneous tissue, dorsal digital nerve and vein of the medial side of the great toe, crural fascia, dorsal digital branches of the superficial fibular nerve, dorsal digital artery, and proximal phalanx of the great toe.
Needling
0.2–0.5 cun perpendicular or oblique (inferior insertion), just below the inferior border of the bone.
Etymology
Da (大), great; Du (都), capital. The point lies on the great toe, at the transition between light and dark skin.
