Location (classical)
On the upper abdomen, 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline, 3 cun above the umbilicus (level of CV-11).
How to find it (practical)
Supine, locate the point 3 cun above the umbilicus and 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Anatomy
Rectus abdominis muscle. Innervated by the 8th intercostal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 0.8–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Guan (关), passage; Men (门), gate. The point lies in the lower region of the Wei (Stomach), corresponding to the transition between the Wei (Stomach) and the Chang (Intestine).
