Location (classical)
On the abdomen, 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline, 1 cun above the umbilicus (level of CV-9).
How to find it (practical)
Supine, locate the point 1 cun above the umbilicus and 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Anatomy
Rectus abdominis muscle. Innervated by the 9th intercostal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 0.8–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Hua (滑), slippery; Rou (肉), flesh; Men (滑肉门), gate. Like a gate through which the soft tissues pass. Hua Rou may be translated as fat.
