Location (classical)
On the lower abdomen, 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline, 1 cun below the umbilicus (level of CV-7).
How to find it (practical)
Supine, locate the point 1 cun below the umbilicus and 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline.
Anatomy
Rectus abdominis muscle. Innervated by the 10th intercostal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Wai (外), outer; Ling (陵), mound. The local prominence of the point resembles a mound.
