Extremely painful point.
Location (classical)
On the ulnar side of the ring finger, a small distance from the corner of the nail. Specifically, 0.1 cun from the ulnar corner of the nail.
How to find it (practical)
With the palmar surface facing down, locate the point at the intersection of the lines passing through the ulnar border and the base of the nail of the ring finger.
Anatomy
Skin, subcutaneous tissue, dorsal digital nerve and vein, dorsal branches of the proper palmar digital branches of the ulnar nerve and proper palmar digital arteries, and the fourth distal phalanx (distal phalanx of the ring finger).
Needling
Perpendicular or oblique insertion directed proximally, 0.1–0.2 cun, or pricking to bleed.
Etymology
Guan (关), strategy; Chong (冲), gushing. Qi exits this point rapidly as if gushing. Strategic departure point of Qi for the three Yang meridians of the Hand.
