Location (classical)
On the posterior aspect of the arm, midway between TE-11 and TE-13, on the line connecting the olecranon and TE-14.
How to find it (practical)
Seated, with the upper limb relaxed, first locate Nao Hui (TE-13) at the intersection between the humerus and the posteroinferior border of the deltoid muscle. Locate TE-12 at the midpoint of the line connecting Qing Leng Yuan (TE-11) and Nao Hui (TE-13).
Anatomy
Triceps brachii muscle (lateral head). Innervated by the posterior brachial cutaneous nerve and the radial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Xiao (消), receding water; Luo (濼), shallow lake, marsh. This point is a small depression and has the function of regulating the passage of waters.
