Location (classical)
On the posterior aspect of the arm, 1 cun proximal to TE-10 (2 cun proximal to the olecranon).
How to find it (practical)
With the hand on the hip and the elbow flexed, locate the point 2 cun posterior and superior to the olecranon and 1 cun immediately above Tian Jing (TE-10).
Anatomy
Triceps brachii muscle. Innervated by the posterior brachial cutaneous nerve and the radial nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Qing (清), cool; Leng (冷), deep, depression; Yuan (渊), deep water. This point is useful for treating headache and difficulty abducting the shoulder due to attack by pathological cold.
