Terminal Knee Extension with VMO Activation
Targeted activation of the vastus medialis oblique, the key muscle for patellar tracking. Focus on the terminal arc of extension to maximize VMO recruitment.
How to perform
- Starting position. Sit with the affected leg extended and a resistance band passing under the knee (anchored to a fixed point).
- Step 2. Fully extend the knee against the band's resistance, focusing on the last 30°.
- Step 3. Hold the contraction for 3 seconds at full extension.
- Return. Flex with control to about 45°.
When not to perform
- Acute anterior knee pain
- Joint effusion
