Avoid the common fibular nerve.
Location (classical)
At the lateral end of the popliteal crease, 1 cun superior to BL-39, on the medial side of the tendon of the biceps femoris.
How to find it (practical)
In ventral or lateral decubitus, first locate Wei Yang (BL-39). Locate Fu Xi (BL-38) 1 cun directly superior to Wei Yang (BL-39), medial to the tendon of the biceps femoris muscle.
Anatomy
Tendon of the biceps femoris, lateral head of the gastrocnemius. Innervated by the common fibular nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Fu (浮), above; Xi (郗), crevice. The point lies above the popliteal fossa when the knee is flexed.
