Precautions
HIGH RISK. Deep perpendicular or superior insertion may perforate the left lobe of the liver or the heart.
Location (classical)
In the upper abdomen, on the anterior midline, 6 cun superior to the umbilicus (2 cun inferior to the costosternal angle).
How to find it (practical)
In supine decubitus, locate the point 1 cun above Shang Wan (CV-13), or 6 cun above the center of the umbilicus.
Anatomy
Linea alba. Innervated by the seventh intercostal nerve.
Needling
Oblique insertion directed inferiorly, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Ju (巨), great; Que (闕), palace gate. Front-Mu point of the Xin (Heart), it treats disorders of the Shen (mind). It is considered that the Xin (Heart) is a palace, and Ju Que is the gateway for the Qi of the Xin (Heart).
