Location (classical)
On the back, on the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra (T3). At the same level as BL-13 (Lung Shu).
How to find it (practical)
Seated with the back flexed or in prone decubitus, locate the point in the depression below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra — that is, at the intersection of the posterior midline with the line passing through the spines of the scapulae.

Needling
Oblique insertion directed superiorly, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Shen (身), body; Zhu (柱), pillar. The point is located between the Shu points of the Fei (Lung) (Fei Shu, BL-13). It means "pillar of the body" and is associated with Lung Qi.
