Location (classical)
On the ulnar border of the hand, with the fist slightly closed, proximal and dorsal to a skin fold at the ulnar end of the most distal palmar flexion crease. Located at the body-head transition of the fifth metacarpal.
How to find it (practical)
Bending the fingers of the hand slightly, locate the point at the dorsiventral division of the ulnar border at the end of the transverse palmar crease, of the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint.
Anatomy
Abductor digiti minimi muscle. Innervated by the dorsal branch of the ulnar nerve.
Needling
Deep needling toward Sanjian LI-3 when all four fingers are affected. Exact depth/angle not specifically detailed.
Etymology
Hou (后), behind; Xi (溪), stream. In the depression posterior to the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint, like a stream.
