Precautions
Deep insertion can penetrate the peritoneal cavity. Caution: in lean patients, deep needling can penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
Location (classical)
On the lower abdomen, 1.3 cun below Daheng SP-15, and 4 cun lateral to the abdominal midline.
How to find it (practical)
Supine, locate the point 4 cun lateral to the anterior midline, 1.3 cun directly below Da Heng (SP-15) or 3 cun directly above Fu She (SP-13).
Anatomy
External and internal oblique muscles, rectus abdominis. Innervated by the 11th intercostal nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun.
Etymology
Fu (腹), abdomen; Jie (结), union, knot. This point is indicated in stagnation of Qi in the abdomen.
