Precautions
Empty the bladder before needling.
Location (classical)
On the lower abdomen, 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline, 4 cun below the umbilicus (level of CV-3).
How to find it (practical)
Supine, first locate Qu Gu (CV-2), in the depression on the upper aspect of the pubic bone. Locate Gui Lai (ST-29) 2 cun lateral and 1 cun superior to Qu Gu (CV-2).
Anatomy
Rectus abdominis muscle, lateral border of the rectus sheath. Innervated by the iliohypogastric nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 1.0–1.5 cun.
Etymology
Gui (归), return; Lai (来), to arrive, to come. This point is indicated to treat symptoms of inguinal hernia and "uterine prolapse," by returning the organs to their original place.
