Precautions
Empty the bladder before needling. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Location (classical)
In the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, 4 cun inferior to the umbilicus (1 cun superior to the pubic symphysis).
How to find it (practical)
In supine decubitus, locate the point 1 cun above Qu Gu (CV-2), or 4 cun below the center of the umbilicus.
Anatomy
Linea alba. Innervated by the iliohypogastric nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Zhong (中), center; Ji (極), exactly. The point is located exactly at the center of the body.
