Precautions
Empty the bladder before needling. Deep insertion may perforate a full bladder. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Location (classical)
In the lower abdomen, on the anterior midline, on the superior border of the pubic symphysis.
How to find it (practical)
In supine decubitus, locate the point on the upper border of the pubic bone, on the midline.
Anatomy
Linea alba, pyramidalis muscle. Innervated by the iliohypogastric nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 0.5–1.0 cun.
Etymology
Qu (曲), curved; Gu (骨), bone. Qu Gu refers to the pubic bone; the point is located on the upper border of the pubic symphysis.
