Location (classical)
On the lateral aspect of the head, within the hairline, midway along the curved line connecting ST-8 and GB-7.
How to find it (practical)
On the head, above the temple, locate the point at the midpoint of the distance between Tou Wei (ST-8) and Qu Bin (GB-7).
Anatomy
Temporalis muscle. Innervated by the auriculotemporal nerve.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion, 0.3–0.5 cun.
Etymology
Xuan (悬), to suspend; Lu (颅), skull. The point is located on the temple. It is as if the skull were suspended by the points, one on each side of the temples.
