Location (classical)
On the anterior aspect of the thigh, directly below the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS), in the depression lateral to the sartorius muscle when the thigh is flexed.
How to find it (practical)
Supine, locate the point below the anterior superior iliac spine, at the level of the inferior border of the pubis.
Anatomy
Rectus femoris and tensor fasciae latae muscles. Innervated by the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve and the femoral nerve.
Needling
Perpendicular insertion 1.0–2.0 cun.
Etymology
Bi (髀), thigh; Guan (关), joint. The point lies at the coxofemoral joint.
