Facial artery and vein.
Location (classical)
With the eyes looking straight ahead, 0.4 cun lateral to the angle of the mouth, directly below the pupil.
How to find it (practical)
Seated or supine, with the patient looking straight ahead, locate the point at the intersection of the vertical line through the pupil and the horizontal line through the angle of the mouth.
Anatomy
Orbicularis oris muscle. Innervated by branches of the facial nerve and the infraorbital nerve. Network of facial artery and vein.
Needling
Transverse (subcutaneous) insertion 0.5–1.0 cun, frequently directed toward ST-6.
Etymology
Di (地), earth; Cang (倉), granary. The five grains grow from the earth. Grains enter the Wei (Stomach) through the mouth, as if entering a granary. The point lies at the corner of the mouth.
