Precautions
Very painful point.
Location (classical)
On the face, on the midline, at the junction of the upper lip margin with the philtrum (tubercle of the upper lip).
How to find it (practical)
With the patient seated, with the neck in extension, or in supine decubitus, locate the point at the intersection between the lower border of the nasolabial groove and the upper lip.
Anatomy
Orbicularis oris muscle. Innervated by the upper labial branch of the facial nerve and by the infraorbital nerve.
Needling
Oblique insertion directed superiorly, 0.2–0.3 cun.
Etymology
Dui (兌), mouth; Duan (端), summit. The point is located on the upper lip.
